Welcome to Paradise

New York has certainly been looking South for beauty inspiration this Fashion Week! Jeremy Scott gave us another of our favourite looks this week with his Elly May Clampett of The Beverly Hillbillies inspired collection. Fresh, luminous skin, cute-as-a-button freckles and sexy-as-hell liner combine to give us this pinup girl next door (or farm?) makeup. According to Val Garland the look was “Daisy Duke goes to Paradise City”… What a combo!!

If you feel like breaking out your inner Guess-girl with this makeup, keep your base light and fresh with a foundation such as MAC Face & Body or Chanel’s Vitalumiere Aqua applied with your fingers to get a really natural finish. On the cheeks, Garland used a few upcoming MAC products to look out for early 2012 beginning with Preferred Pink and Fully Ripe Lip Quad Palette which were blended on the cheeks for a doll-like shape then dusted over with Immortal Flower Powder Blush to set. The freckles were created using Cork and Burgundy Lip Pencils and Coffee Eye Pencil, alternating tones to give depth and dimension.

On the eyes, Garland used MAC Pro Black Creme Liner top and bottom but you could also try their Fluidline liner in Blacktrack or Illamasqua’s Precision Ink in Abyss. The line on top was kept quite kitten-like with a nice thick, rounded line and flicked out at the ends while the bottom line was kept straight with a space in between the lashes and the liner. The socket line was defined and smoked out using Coffee Eye Pencil, this time applied with an angle brush and blended but you could achieve the same effect with a powder shadow such as Wolf by Illamasqua if you’re not used to using pencils this way. A little Dazzlelight Eyeshadow was used in the inner corners to highlight and the eyes were finished with two coats of mascara, powdered in between to give a real “Dusty Springfield” effect. The one used in the show was Zoomblack Mascara by MAC but Diorshow by Christian Dior is a great alternative to give you those big, bambi lashes!

The look was finished off by using MAC Lip Pencil in In Synch all over the entire lip and filled in with Enchantee Kissable Lip Colour, another product available Spring/Summer 2012.

Now, in the words of the immortal Daisy, “I’ll tell you what, I’m gonna have some fun…”
